MOBILE BEAT RADIO ANNOUNCEMENT - 4/24/07:

We are sad to announce that Mobile Beat Radio is closing it's doors for the time being. Because of the 300% increase in internet-based music licensing costs starting May 15, 2007, we can no longer afford to broadcast specialty music to you. For more information on this increase in music licensing see the http://www.savenetradio.org website.

This increase in rates will be charged to internet broadcasters who have played royalty-based music even as far back as early 2006. Without the listener and advertiser base to back it we are financially forced to shut down this young venture for ProDJ Publishing. Mobile Beat Radio was fully BMI and ASCAP licensed and would only consider doing such the right way, thus we will decline acceptance of paying these ridiculous rates that we feel we can't ask our advertisers and sponsors to pay.

Although we focused on a talk-radio format, we feel that without integrating music-based programming around the live talk programs there is no way to make this a true industry tool to educate and entertain according to our business plan. Our talk hosts were top of the line professionals and understand how the music contributed to listenership in their shows as well.

On the other hand, DJ Idea Sharing has established a strong format on it's podcast downloadable show and we are swinging the full promotional avenues of Mobile Beat their direction. Since it's inception, DJ Idea Sharing and it's primaries has been an extremely strong supporter of Mobile Beat and ProDJ.Com, and with this we will be able to strengthen our ties even more. "We started our podcast to make a positive contribution to the industry and we support Mobile Beat and stand by them with everything they do. It was my intention all along to have a program as part of Mobile Beat Radio, now it will turn out to be the other way around. With the combined efforts of Mobile Beat and DJ Idea Sharing, who knows how far this thing can go? Look for more of Mobile Beat on DJ Idea Sharing and vice versa!" says Mike Fernino, Founder of DJ Idea Sharing (http://www.djideasharing.com).

We would like to thank everybody who showed their support for Mobile Beat Radio and hope that we can open it's doors again in the future when the royalty fee rates come back down to an affordable level.

Sincerely,

Barry Cedergren
Program Director, Mobile Beat Radio

More on DJ Idea Sharing is below:
Hosted by Mike Fernino, the first ever "Idea Sharing Night" was held on the evening of April 26th, 2001 at Testa's in Southington, Connecticut. Originally, the plan was to have a training night for the staff of Mike's company "Music In Motion." During the planning stages, Mike and his brother Steve concluded that by inviting other DJ friends, they could expand the discussion for a greater variety of input and ideas. As a result, this ground-breaking event had an attendance of 49 professional DJs from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. By the end of "Idea Sharing Night," it was clear that something magical had happened. There was an overwhelming response to have another "Idea Sharing Night" later that year...

Since then, DJ Idea Sharing has evolved into an event that covers all aspects of being a mobile DJ - performance, marketing, business, product demos, interactivity, and much, much more. DJ Idea Sharing has featured a long list of guest speakers that reads like a Who's Who of the Mobile Disc Jockey industry. It has become the largest regular gathering of professional DJs in New England. It has also been the blueprint for many similar events now being held around the country. Whether, it is the original "Idea Sharing Night" or it's "The Fishbowl," DJ Idea Sharing continues to provide unique learning opportunities for all who attend.

DJ Idea Sharing has also become a popular feature at DJ conventions from Vegas to Tampa. Through the DJ Idea Sharing "peer to peer" seminars, DJIS has been able to spread their unique brand of education and networking to regions outside of New England - promoting cooperation, communication, and camaraderie throughout the entire Mobile Disc Jockey industry.
